Our newlywed couple Alan and Jamie met at a Taiko big drum festival in Japan ( I had to look it up!) while both were teaching English there. Jamie said she really didn’t intend on picking up a guy while there, but Alan was sure cute and they really hit it off. Two years later, they moved in together in New Zealand and stayed for 6 years.
While in New Zealand, Alan took Jamie to a volcano top and proposed to her! That is one we haven’t heard before! Pretty hot stuff! She said yes of course! Together Jamie really missed the States so they decided to come back and applied for Alan to get into the country on a fiance visa. They are still waiting, 18 months and counting! We hope you get in soon Alan!
Their wedding day was fantastic, and while we didn’t have a Taiko drum group, we did have a beautiful string quartet, Impulse Strings to lend some panache to the day. Music always adds to a wedding, and we love live music. Alan and Jamie had provided mixed drinks for the company with Trixie the cutest little mobile bar as well as a lovely charcuterie for the guests. Valley of Fire is a perfect venue for a wedding, and a small guest list is truly a lot of fun there.
Jamie looked stunning and was just a bit emotional, as every bride has a right to be on her day. She did a great job holding it together as she walked to Alan, and their ceremony was really lovely and beautiful as they pledged their love to each other. Congratulations from all of us at Cactus and Lace Weddings you two! Best wishes and much love as you traverse this globe on your adventures!
