Coyote skins, feathers, dried sage for smudging, dried flower arrangements, and a hand-carved yew bowl. What on earth could all these elements have in common? We will tell you! The wedding of Patrick and Amanda, and this boho wedding had so many elements that reminded us of the earth and the millions of years man has been upon it. Amanda and Pat co-planned this wedding and wanted it to focus on decor that reflected the meaning and depth of their relationship. There were so many elements that lent a feeling of thoughtfulness, love, humor, kindness, and a definite earthy grounded feel to this very special day.
We could not have had a better, more perfect day, with no wind, temperatures in the 70’s and bright sun. It was marvelous!
Sweet Sauce Coffee was there with a light meal of various cheeses, meats, and other deliciousness, and our desserts came from Las Vegas Custom Cakes. Amanda Monk, our own Amanda, did a marvelous job doubling as an officiant. Our couple had a ceremony that included their own vows to each other, readings, and a unity fire. Pat and Amanda lit the fire together, and each person added a small piece of cholla that Pat had put a few bits of special salts within, adding a bit of spark to the flames.
Pat’s mom had started a tradition way back when she was married of making her own wedding gown. She then made her daughters’ wedding gown, and now that her son was getting married, she made her daughter-in-laws’ gown. Amanda and Pat had designed the gown and his mom sewed it. We loved it, it was expertly done and had lots of little added touches that made it unique, and special. This dress really was made with love sewn right in. Amanda had added lots of boho accents; earrings, bracelets, and a feather arm bracelet that we all loved. But the crowning accents were the barefoot sandals that Pat made for Amanda. They were beautiful and fit so well into the decor and feel of this wedding. Those little barefoot sandals were way cool, just completing the dress in a perfect way!
Pat’s boutonniere and Amanda’s bouquet were lovely as well. Both were made with various dried floral elements, and Amanda had a large feather collection which she mailed us to us in it as we saw fit. We turned it over to The Front Porch Flowers to work their floral magic and the results were absolutely perfect for this couple.
Pat and Amanda, we were absolutely honored working with you creating a lovely day to remember forever. We wish you the very best of wishes, and especially wish you a long and happy life together! Congratulations, with love from Cactus and Lace Weddings!
