Maira and Michael celebrated their wedding day with us, just a short while ago. This wedding was the kind where you go in not knowing anyone, and come out feeling like you have made lifelong friends. Maira is beautiful, warm, genuinely friendly, and extremely happy. Strong, independent, and “very opinionated” in her own words, Michael is her rock as well as being a dad to little Aiden, his son. Maira wanted someone who would be able to accept her for who she was, and Michael does just that. Combining all three into a new family was a privilege for us to be able to participate in.
Maira and Michael met on St. Patrick’s day through a mutual friend. He jumped into her car along with that friend Bobby, and by the time they left the first bar, Maira and Mike were holding hands and have been inseparable ever since.
One of the most touching experiences at this wedding happened when Maira and her dad were dancing. Maira’s dad knew he would cry at his daughter’s wedding and he did, making all of us cry too. He had waited to walk his daughter down the aisle since she was a young girl, and have a daddy-daughter dance with her. We could see the tenderness and joy on his face as each of these events occurred. It was one of the sweetest things we have seen.
And little Aiden was excited to become a family. Along with his new mom and his dad, he got to say I do as well and got a ring just like they did to celebrate the day. Maira is in love with Aiden as well as his dad, and made sure that she and Michael were truly in love and committed to a long term relationship before she ever met Aiden. Aiden’s favorite part of the day aside from all the formal stuff was playing in the sand with our Amanda, who also officiated that day. His mom asked him what his favorite part of the trip was, and he quickly mentioned that brief moment at Valley of Fire playing in the sand. It’s the little things, folks.
Maira and Michael, we were honored to plan your wedding and be part of your day. May your love be timeless and carry you through all the rest of your days together. Congratulations from all of us at Cactus and Lace Weddings!
