Stunning! Sometimes, a wedding comes together in a perfect storm of wonderfulness. This was one of those days. The weather was temperate and breezy, but not too much. The sky was bright and sunny, yet the late afternoon light was deliciously dreamy. The gorgeous bride and groom were married in a perfect union in a very personal ceremony, our new pampas grass arch was spectacular against the towering red cliffs, and we had pizza at the wedding, thereby sealing the deal on an absolutely wonderful Valley of Fire elopement. Really, this wedding was a great one.
Kristin and Frances hail from Canada, our fabulous neighbors to the north. We knew they were special, but when Kristin pulled out all the stops at her first look just before the ceremony, we were really impressed. Her idea was to sit Frances down and have him watch a very touching video of many of their moments together as a couple while she waited out of sight. This happened literally minutes before they were to be married. Frances loves Kristin so much, as he watched the video, he was visibly touched by it, we even caught him wiping away some tears with a back of the hand. Then, standing with his back to Kristin, she walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned, and it was one of those quiet wow moments you feel privileged to be able to watch. Quiet, so emotional and still, silent, except for their very touching, sweet expression of love for each other. It was so evident you could actually feel it, just being near them. Powerful moments to always remember. We love little moments like that…because weddings and elopements are all about love, right?
Kristin had given us some great ideas to build our planning and decor platform upon. And we love it when our brides then trust us to let go and turn it over to us to work some magic for them. We take into consideration their style, and their ideas to make a day that is remarkable for them. Our clients, like Kristin and Frances, hail from all over the world. So meeting in person before the wedding is not feasible. We do meet over the magic of the video chat on the internet, they give us a bit of direction, and we take it from there. One of the best things about us is that we handle all of the details, decor, planning, and implementation of it so the bride and groom can rest easy, knowing it is taken care of. We want them to have all their planning cares and worries lifted by letting us do the heavy work. One of our favorite sayings to our bride is, “You bring the dress, we will do the rest.” Our favorite kind of bride shows us some favorite images she loves on Pinterest or email and then gives us the freedom to interpret that in a creative way for a desert environment. Most of our brides don’t have the time to spend planning a long distance wedding with thousands of decisions and choices, so our method works fantastically! People often remark on why each of our weddings looks so different. That is because our couples are each unique and we take the time to make it just for them. We think this sets us apart and imparts a very custom personal touch.
Kristin and Francis said “We can’t thank Cactus and Lace enough for everything they did for us to make our day so absolutely perfect. They made our wedding planning and wedding day 100% stress-free. We can’t thank them and their partner companies enough for how beautifully they brought everything together. Our cake was the most impressive dessert I’ve ever seen, it was pretty and delicious! Yukon Pizza was by far the best pizza we and our guests have ever tasted. The transportation was on time and so kind to us on the drive there and back. Our officiant made our ceremony above and beyond what we pictured it to be, it was so personal and we totally weren’t expecting it. Cactus and Lace make wedding dreams come true and we will forever be absolutely thankful to these incredible ladies and their team member companies.”
We are honored by those kind words Kristin and Frances have for us, it is our absolute pleasure to work with wonderful, easy going people like these two. Kristin is a photographer herself, as well as a small business owner, and we are really humbled that she trusted us with her wedding. We are blown away by the images of them both, she is stunning, he is handsome, a photographers dream couple!
All our love Kristin and Frances! Cheers and blessings for a long and happy life together!
