Recently, Cactus and Lace Weddings had the wonderful opportunity to meet Andrew and Victoria, a lovely couple who had decided to marry in the Valley of Fire, a destination wedding just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Andrew is a citizen of the United States, and Victoria hailed from the lovely shores of Great Britain. Their’s was a long distance relationship in the beginning, but soon, Andrew and Victoria decided that something more permanent was desired. And so, they decided to get married! They loved the Valley of Fire, and it was near Las Vegas, so they called us! We are so glad they did, we loved getting to know them as we were planning together.

Andrew and Victoria had decided on an elegant theme featuring art deco decor and black, gold, and white tones. Very simple, and very elegant. We were excited for this wedding, since we rarely are able to design a wedding as different as art deco. We even decided on a black and gold cake with abstract gold designs. Our talented bakery, Peridot Sweets created a lovely and delicious vanilla bean cake with smooth and creamy buttercream frosting, and designed the art abstract design for the outside of the cake. We also had petit fours, and yummy chocolate covered strawberries as well, with the dessert bar set up on a vintage desk from the 1930’s. Mmmmm, super delicious…. (Victoria said the cake was the best she had ever had!)

Andrew has a great sense of humor as well as great comedic timing. We were laughing a lot during this wedding, mainly due to Andrew’s great facial expressions and personality. Andrew also loves style and has a great eye for detail, in our opinion. So, we were not surprised when he had to show us his tailored suit jacket, made specifically for him in the UK. It was smashing, if we can borrow the word from our British friends. Impeccably tailored, detailed right down to the unusual buttons, it was one great piece of clothing. And he looked marvelous. Victoria, the love of Andrew’s life, looked pretty amazing herself. Victoria has a lovely creamy complexion and paired with her striking hair and dress, she was outstanding. The dress design of her gown was simple and elegant and she looked absolutely lovely in it. Even when we had her slogging through the deep sand for pictures, she never complained! You picked a great girl, Andrew! Her bouquet of stunning white roses with green accents was superb and created by our fantastic florist, Char Udall and her team of talent at The Front Porch Flowers. Well done!

One of our favorite things about this couple was how well they complement each other.  They make a perfect pair and they work well together. And they are very loved by their wonderful family and many friends who came to see them tie the knot, officiated by the lovely and skilled Angie Kelly of Peachy Keen Unions. It was a great affair and we were thrilled to be able to help this great couple with this spectacular and wonderful day.
