Desert Enchantment in a Las Vegas Destination Wedding

Aussie. Australian. Whenever we hear those words, it makes us very happy. Some of our favorite people are Australians who contact us for help with weddings. Funny, and warm, with a little bit of tough as nails thrown in, but sophisticated too, these fun-loving folks are usually so good-natured, it would take a whole lot to dampen their day.

So when we heard that Alex and Mitch were coming to Vegas for a destination wedding, and needed our help, we were really ecstatic. These two hail from New South Wales, on the coast of Australia. We knew we were going to have a wonderful day! And we were right!

On a perfect, perfect bright sunny day, with Valley of Fire on her best behavior, no wind, no heat, just a wonderful balmy fall afternoon, Alex and Mitchell arrived with family and friends from the Las Vegas Strip. They had forbidden their guests to drink on the bus before the ceremony, which according to some, had caused a near riot. It could be a vicious rumor, but Aussies are known to like a drop or two on wedding days. We are being silly, but we were happy to know that these two had the respect and love of all those present, and complied with our suggestion to hold off until after the ceremony. Pictures look so much better in our way of thinking! So, to all of you, many thanks for the sacrifice!

Along with Mitch and Alex and entourage, Sweet Sauce Coffee was there with a small charcuterie for everyone. We just love it when Carmen comes to visit us and our guests. She does a marvelous job, the food always looks lovely, and our guests love it. We also had delicious cupcakes and desserts from Caked, who really created a marvelous cupcake variety for us.

Beautiful weather, soft happy music in the background, lovely food, and dessert, an easy-going sweet couple, lovely people attending, all added up to a really, terrific, wonderful day. Judy Irving, our officiant, started the tears flowing with a lovely touching ceremony. What made the ceremony even more special was Mitch’s niece making an appearance during the ring exchange, she was surely stealing the show. Then those little girls got down and dirty with the desert floor and soon they were covered in red sand! We LOVED it!

Alex and Mitchell’s dads’ had also come up with a few words of love and advice for the couple. Each did a marvelous job and in the words of Mitch’s father, “Mitchell and Alex, you have chosen the bosom of Nature to memorialize your nuptials. This place is born of Fire, tectonic forces, and a gentle honing of the winds. Your marriage will a journey of those forces of Nature. Water and Air sustain you, Stone and Wood grind food and provide fuel. Fire is the love for each other in your souls, the spark and the all-consuming cleanser of spirit, let the earth support you… Let this be etched in the glyph of the desert: That Mitch and Alex’s love is strong and that you are supported and honored by your family and friends who wish you both, a rewarding life.”

We echo these words, and wish you both a wonderful, rewarding life! Congratulations and thank you so much for the opportunity to be with you today!
