“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” is a wedding tradition symbolizing love, purity, and fidelity, and is meant to bring good luck to the couple. You will usually see the couple use “Something Blue” in jewelry, cufflinks, a garter, shoes or maybe added in the florals. This was a first for us as the guests arrived coordinated in shades of blue, like a sea flowing through the Valley of Fire desert. The combination of cool blue tones against the warm desert sands created a stunning contrast. It was incredible and a testament of the many loved ones there to support their union.

A little background of this lovely couple and their love story Ashley shared with us. Trey and Ashley have known each other for over 15 years! Their families have been close friends for many years, before and after they started dating. Ashley was actually best friends with Trey’s younger sister Abby. Funny enough the mom’s on both sides have always secretly wanted Trey and Ashley to end up together, you can’t even imagine how happy they were when the two started dating. While Trey and Ashley always got along very well their relationship became romantic post college when Ashley moved back to their home town. Since the families are so close and it was a new relationship, Trey and Ashley actually secretly dated for about 4 weeks before breaking the news to the families. Of course many happy tears were shed! The couple continued to date for a year and half and then moved in together. Trey popped the question, after Ashley dropped many hints of which rings she liked and how much she couldn’t wait to marry him. Trey asked Ashley on a hike both families have been on many times, a really special place for the couple and the mom’s dreams of them ending up together finally came true!

When Ashley and Trey envisioned their Las Vegas wedding, they knew they wanted something intimate, non-traditional, and set against the breathtaking beauty of the desert. The Valley of Fire, with its fiery red rocks and sweeping landscapes, provided the perfect backdrop for their love story.

The wedding day began with excitement as Ashley and her bridal party gathered for hair and makeup in their Vegas hotel room. The atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation, and Ashley, radiant in her pre-wedding glow was absolutely stunning. She chose an off-the-shoulder sweetheart gown that was a perfect blend of romance and sophistication which showcased her elegance effortlessly. Pearl-embellished heels peeked out through the dress slit, adding a hint of glamour to her appearance. We loved how the gown enhanced Ashley’s natural beauty for a soft romantic look. With her radiant smile and natural poise, Ashley was effortlessly photogenic at every angle. The morning was the perfect prelude to what would become an unforgettable day.

The couple’s ceremony was officiated by Ashley’s brother, who shared a personal and heartfelt story about how Ashley and Trey first got together. Their journey to becoming a couple was full of humor and warmth, which shone through in the ceremony. The family dynamics were heartwarming, and it was clear how much everyone adored them as a couple. You really could feel the love and excitement.

Neutral tones were chosen for the decor, allowing the vibrant reds and oranges of the desert to shine through naturally giving an earthy elegant vibe. Pampas grass and rugs added a boho touch, while mismatched seating in wood, metal, and velvet created eclectic charm. Our custom made metal curved gold arches with large gorgeous florals framed the ceremony site, providing an elegant contrast to the Valley of Fire red rock formations.

Following the ceremony, guests celebrated with cocktails, delicious food, and mingling. We arranged simple natural wood tables with white runners and florals for elegance. A lovely charcuterie spread offered a light and refreshing meal, perfect for the desert setting. Meanwhile, the bartender served custom specialty drinks from a vintage horse trailer, adding a unique and charming touch as a mobile bar. We also created a cozy vignette for guests to lounge and mingle, with desserts displayed about. The couple opted for an assortment of cupcakes, chocolate-covered strawberries, brownies, lemon tarts, cookies, and macarons, for an alternative to a traditional wedding cake. An assorted dessert bar always proves to be a crowd favorite!

The bride and groom were such a fun loving couple and shared plenty of laughs throughout the day. Their laid-back nature radiated warmth and joy. Rather than spending time separately mingling with guests, they sat together at their table, cuddled up, enjoying each other’s company. It was a beautifully intimate and sweet moment, where they took a pause from the busyness to simply savor together as husband and wife.

Couple’s portraits were so much fun with these two! Ashley and Trey’s deep connection and love for each other were truly evident. Their desert wedding set against the stunning Valley of Fire desert, perfectly mirrored their love story—timeless, unique, and full of warmth. Here’s to many more years of laughter and love for Ashley and Trey! Thank you for allowing us to share in your beautiful wedding day and unforgettable memories! We wish you a lifetime of happiness and endless love! All our love, The Cactus and Lace Team
