Some of the strongest relationships we’ve witnessed have grown from friendships. This was certainly the case with Kelsey and James Nutter. From gym buddies to husband and wife, they are the epitome of a loving couple with a strong bond. As the story goes, James knew when he first spotted Kelsey that he would marry her. He shared with his friend this declaration, and would soon come to be correct. He and Kelsey hit it off at the gym and became lifting buddies and eventually close friends. From there, their bond grew stronger and their love deeper; going steady after a cozy fall day of carving pumpkins and eating pancakes, and, eventually, a marriage proposal during the Washington DC cherry blossom festival. The two have grown stronger together in more ways than one, and have had the joy of experiencing life together, always balancing each other out and supporting one another through thick and thin. We were honored to have provided for them the wedding which represented the continuation of their journey.
The last thing we would have expected was perfect wedding weather at Valley of Fire, on a mid-May day, but Kelsey and James got just that! A warm spring breeze was just the beginning. From a gorgeous gown to dreamy florals, to scrumptious gourmet pizza, this wedding was as seamless and beautiful as can be. Kelsey looked breathtaking in her beautifully unique gown as well as with her polished hair and makeup provided by Ruby Finch Salon. James sported a custom-tailored suit and a love so bright he was beaming. You can tell just by the way a couple looks at one another how deeply they love each other, and these two were certainly not lacking in that department! During their ceremony, James’ close friend conducted their marriage as the officiant and shared the couple’s origin story, followed by the two exchanging heartfelt vows and promises to continue loving and supporting each other through all that they endure. The ceremony was followed by pizza, toasts, plenty of drinks, and gourmet treats and cake provided by Peridot Sweets. We witnessed a bond within this family which we don’t always get to see at every wedding. Laughing and crying together, and simply enjoying each other’s company, you could easily tell that Kelsey and James’ families loved both of them as much as they loved each other!
