William and Marcie met dancing at a local dance hall. That sounds pretty simple right? But this couple really love to dance. DANCE. And being from the ranching type state of Texas, doing that old two step is kind of how things are done. But let’s let Marcie tell the story in her own words….
“William and I met on a night out with some mutual friends. We went to our local dance hall, and once we started dancing we didn’t want to stop. We swapped contact information because he was an electrician and I needed some help with some lights in my house. He came over to fix it, and I repaid him with a home made meal. I made steaks, and even bought him some beer. We talked for hours, and eventually he looked at the fixture and had forgotten the right parts. Finally, he fixed it and we started going to more concerts together, and continued to dance the nights away. Before I knew it we started talking about getting married. I hadn’t ever really given marriage much though, until he started asking about my ring size. I gently let him know that I wanted to wait until I was done with school.
After school had been disrupted with covid, and we spent more time together, I realized that I wanted to spend my life with him sooner than later. William makes me laugh more than I ever have in my life, and always has a way of putting me at ease when the burdens of life weigh me down. I couldn’t imagine a life without him. So I started to drop more hints about getting married. He understood, but hadn’t asked yet. I decided to let him know in a big way that it was time. William often talked about having a ranch and his own brand. Being from Texas it only made sense to incorporate his brand into a buckle. We had planned a night out with some friends, but he didn’t know I was planning to ask him. I requested that the DJ play “Grow Old with Me”, by Sunny Sweeney. We danced to it, and he was so excited I was able to play our song! Then at the end our friends came out with sparklers, the custom belt buckle, and the signs that read “Grow old with me, I’ll keep you young forever. Marry me?” He was so surprised when he realized what was going on and the reason why I kept him on the dance floor so long. He was even more shocked when he looked at the buckle. William had seen his brand and some more of our song inscribed on the inside. It reads, “There won’t be nothing but big ol’ hearts dancing in our eyes.”
Since we’ve been dating that’s how it felt. Now we are married, and I don’t see that feeling going away.
Marcie and William had a sign in table with a big ol’ Texas sized hat that the guests signed and a little sign that read, “She gave me her heart and a place to hang my hat.” So cute!
William and Marcie were married on 2-22-22, on one of the windiest days so far this year. But they made it through just fine, and those pictures of our couple look so romantic with that breeze! Marcie wanted all the special things that make a wedding day so special and that day was just the perfect day to get married.
Congratulations and best wishes on that ranch of yours! All our love, Cactus and Lace Weddings
