Although each of us has different ways of heading down the road, sometimes, just sometimes, that road leads us to the love of our life. Follow along as we explore the love story of Monica and Kevin, who fell in love running along together!
Kevin and Monica met a few years ago in 2016 in a running club. Kev was the pace leader and Monica had just joined the club. They were best friends for awhile, Kev knew Monica needed some relationship space, so friend zone it was!
Things shifted though, in 2017 on a half marathon run in the Grand Canyon. Somehow, spending those few days together road-tripping through Arizona changed it all, and in February of 2019, Kev surprised Monica with a National Park road trip. On the last park they hit, Utah’s fabulous Arches, Monica’s favorite of all, Kevin surprised her as they viewed the delicate huge arch together. Kevin started off by getting down on one knee and presenting her with a ring. She couldn’t think straight and wasn’t even sure he asked her to marry him, but saw the ring and said, “Yes, yes, Yes!”
Fast forward to today! It is their wedding day, and while still unusually warm this October, in the cool shade of the ancient red sandstone mountains our adventurous couple celebrated their love together with some pretty amazing people. An intimate wedding at Valley of Fire is just the thing when you love being in spectacular outdoor places but want a wedding with all the trimmings. That’s our specialty here at Cactus and Lace Weddings!
Kevin and Monica were sooo sweet and naturally happy. Even when the limo took the wrong direction going to Valley of Fire, they were able to just roll right with it. We have it from good sources that when Monica walked down the aisle and Kev saw her for the first time, he had to turn away to compose himself, he was so emotional. Their wedding was officiated by a close friend, Eric, and he did a marvelous job. Sweet, funny, and perfect. More crying was seen at the toasts. As Monica’s mshe gave her toast, she remembered the day Monica was born, and again had every one in the group crying, including our team!
For all the invited guest, Monica and Kevin sent them all these adorable retro postcards and had the write a little message of well wishes that we displayed at the ceremony. That way all their loved ones got to be involved even if they could not attend in person.
It was a beautiful day, and capped off by the whole party heading off into the sunset in the limos to IN-N-Out burger, their favorite burger hangout. What a great way to celebrate! Kevin and Monica, we adored you and your wonderful friends and family! It was our joy to celebrate with you and make sure your day went off without a hitch! Cheers, and best wishes that your roads are always clear! All our love, Cactus and Lace Weddings!
