Rain. Rain makes all things green and fresh, and in the case of the red rocks of the beautiful Valley of Fire, near Las Vegas, it makes them deeper and richer in color than all the other months in the year. So we actually love the rain. We were planning for a great day with Hollie and Ollie even if rain was forecast. Now the thing you need to know about this wonderful, fun-loving couple from the UK is this – besides being totally in love with each other, they are in love with anything from the West. Country music, hats, boots, cowboys, the desert, and I bet there might be a honky-tonk in their vocabulary used occasionally if you listen close.

So what does that have to do with weddings in general, you ask? Plenty, especially if the wedding belongs to Hollie and Ollie. BTW, Ollie’s given name is Oliver, but Hollie and Ollie sounds so cute when said together, saying it that way rolls right out of your mouth in just the happiest way. But I digress.

When they called us, they wanted a wedding that reflected all the fun things they loved about the West. And they also wanted a wedding that wasn’t too stuffy, a little more boho – a free-spirited day that better reflected who they are. At Cactus and Lace Weddings, we love free spirits! To make a couple’s wedding so personalized and display their love in a very unique and personal way makes our little hearts go “YEE-HA!” Can you say, horseshoes, cactus, barb wire, and cowboy cookies!

Any way, Hollie and Ollie requested Friday the 13th on purpose for their wedding day. And guess what, you can throw all those superstitions aside because all things considered, it all went so well! There were a few bumps, of course, life sometimes acts like a bucking horse. Ok, truthfully, anything and everything went south before this couple got hitched. You name it, and it happened. They were just about done in. But they persevered and said, on the night before the wedding, come heck or high water we are going forward! This couple had to navigate some extra challenges prior to their wedding day, like the tiny interruption of the Co-vid 19 pandemic just for starts, but they made it through, all of those challenges!

Hollie created some amazingly thoughtful gifts to give their guests. We were so impressed. Check out the bandanas and matchbooks for a look at her skill at illustration (She is a tattoo artist for reals). And Ollie had a secret t-shirt made to wear which he hid from Hollie until the ceremony!

We loved them so dearly and having their family and friends join them made a lovely day. May you always have each other to lean on in the hard times, depend on each other forever, and wrap each other up in love always. Remember it always gets dark, right before the dawn. And if you made it through all that, you can get through anything!

All our love, to this amazing, lovable couple. Best wishes from all us gals at Cactus and Lace!
